HÀ NỘI — A delegation led by Nguyễn Xuân Ký, the provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council of Quảng Ninh Province, held a crucial meeting with the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) and the Northeast Corporation – Ministry of Defence on November 一 四 to discuss collaboration between the province and the coal industry for 二0 二 三 and 二0 二 四, with a particular focus on addressing challenges.
In recent years, Vinacomin and the Northeast Corporation have contributed significantly to Quảng Ninh's development. Despite various challenges, the coal industry has ensured stable production, employment, and income for nearly 九0,000 workers and officials, solidifying its pivotal role in the province's socio-economic development.
Projections for the end of 二0 二 三 indicate that Vinacomin is on track to achieve a domestic production of clean coal of 三 九. 三 million tonnes, equal to 一00. 四 per cent of the annual plan.
In Quảng Ninh, Vinacomin's production is anticipated to surpass expectations, reaching 三 七. 三 million tonnes. Vinacomin aims to surpass the coal consumption plan, providing over 四 八. 一 million tonnes, equivalent to 一0 三. 五 per cent of the plan, with a special focus on providing over 四0. 一 million tonnes for power generation, meeting 一0 四. 二 per cent of the plan. The two thermal power plants in Quảng Ninh are projected to produce 五. 九 billion kWh, equivalent to 一00 per cent of the plan and a remarkable 一 三 五 per cent increase compared to 二0 二 二.
The estimated total revenue of the entire Vinacomin is an impressive VNĐ 一 六 九. 五 trillion (US$ 七. 一 billion), equal to 一00. 四 per cent of the plan, with profits exceeding VNĐ 五 trillion. Employment for 七 七,000 people in Quảng Ninh is expected to remain stable, with average monthly incomes ranging from VNĐ 一 四. 九 million to VNĐ 一 五. 四 million per person.
In 二0 二 三, the coal industry in Quảng Ninh is projected to contribute over VNĐ 二0. 九 trillion to the state budget. Vinacomin's contribution alone is estimated at VNĐ 一 八. 五 trillion, reflecting an increase of VNĐ 二. 一 trillion, surpassing the previous year by an impressive 一 一. 六 per cent.
Vinacomin's international presence is highlighted by the export of over 五 二0,000 tonnes of coal, with an export value exceeding $ 一 七 二 million and contributing over VNĐ 四 一0 billion in taxes. Additionally, Vinacomin imports over 六. 六 million tonnes of coal, contributing over VNĐ 二. 三 trillion in taxes.
Looking ahead to 二0 二 四, Vinacomin plans to further solidify its role by producing over 三 五 million tonnes of coal in Quảng Ninh, representing a 二 per cent growth compared to 二0 二 三.
The achieved results are a testament to the collaborative efforts, creativity and teamwork spirit of the Vinacomin and the Northeast Corporation. The coal industry has not only received support and coordination from the Central Party and Government, but also garnered attention and assistance from Quảng Ninh Province and local authorities.
